3 Simple Steps to Succeed in Life With No Skills Whatsoever

Can you survive in this life with no skills whatsoever?

Absolutely.

succeed in life with no skills whatsoeverCan you succeed in life with no skills whatsoever?

Once again…absolutely!!

The world would have you believe that in order to become a big time success, you either need to go to school for 20 years to become a doctor or lawyer, or you have to be some kind of child prodigy and become a big-time athlete or tech guru.

Lies, lies, lies.

There are 320 million people living in the U.S. today. 10.4 million of them are millionaires. For every 30 people you bump into throughout the day, approximately 1 of them has a $1,000,000 net worth or more. That’s a pretty surprisingly high ratio!

Seem impossible?

I mean, you don’t see people driving fancy sports cars on a regular basis. Hardly anyone you meet has a gaudy Rolex hanging off their wrist. And you just don’t hear people talking about their latest private flight to Fiji. How can it be possible that you’re interacting with dozens of millionaires every day?

You know how it’s possible? Because they’re undetectable.

Eighty percent of the millionaires in this world are self-made millionaires. They’re not rich because of mommy and daddy. And you know what? A very small portion of them are doctors, lawyers, or highly paid athletes. Most of today’s millionaires are average Joe’s like you and me.

Put quite simply, it’s not only possible to succeed in life with no skills whatsoever, it’s the norm!

3 Simple Steps to Succeed in Life With No Skills Whatsoever

So how is it that “normal” people become millionaires? From what society has sold us, normal people should simply admit defeat in life and work as low-paid laborers. To be completely honest, it’s not a terrible life. You work just 8-9 hours of a 24 hour day, you get Saturdays and Sundays off, and you get paid enough to provide shelter, food, and clothing for your family.

But if you had the choice, would you rather succeed in life with no skills whatsoever, or just get by? For the simple fact that you’re reading this post, you obviously want to become a financial success, so let’s move on to the steps that’ll get you there.

1) Find a Need

To succeed in life, you must commit at least some of your time to thought. When ask what one of the most important factors to success is, many millionaires simply say, “Reading”. And what does reading lead to? Contemplation and original thought.

If you want to succeed in life with no skills whatsoever, you’ll need to learn to think for yourself and find a need.

So what do I mean by, “find a need”? How does this help you become successful in life?

Simple.

Where there is a need, there are people willing to pay for a solution.

Where do you find a need?

If this is your typical day….

  • Wake up, get ready for the day
  • Drive to work, put in a 9-hour shift
  • Drive to the grocery store, pick up some stuff
  • Head home, watch some TV, surf the web, then go to bed…

Your life is pretty boring. But you know what? Even with this simple schedule, you can STILL find a need. All you have to do is keep your eyes open and your brain active.

For example…

Here’s how one of your days might go when you’re actively searching for an opportunity.

  1. On your way to work, you notice a hole that’s been dug in your neighbor’s yard. Looks like they’re trying to put up a fence, but they’re struggling to do the grunt work. “Huh,” you think to yourself, “Looks like that’s taking them a while.”
  2. On your drive back home, you notice yet another neighbor. They’ve got a huge moving truck in their driveway. “Wow, that’s a big job. They definitely need help.”
  3. When you arrive back at your house, you watch your favorite TV show, “Fuller House” (your favorite TV show is Fuller House? Man, you’ve got problems… 😉 ) and then hop on Craigslist to see what interesting stuff is for sale. Your eyes are drawn to an ad that you’ve seen before, ‘Free washer and dryer – not working’. “It sure would be nice if someone could move that stuff out those peoples’ house. I bet they’d really like that space freed up.”

No matter what your daily routine is like, if you just keep your eyes open, you can find a ton of needs out there.

List them all out on paper

The next step to succeed in life with no skills whatsoever is writing down all those needs that you’ve discovered, because hopefully there are so many that you simply can’t remember them all in one sitting.

Here’s a list that ties into our examples above…and then a few more ideas that you came up with:

  1. Neighbors need holes dug
  2. People need help moving
  3. People need junk hauled out of their house
  4. Elderly people would like someone to walk with and help them cross the street
  5. People would like an app that tries on clothes for them
  6. Busy people just don’t have time to mow their lawns or edge the yard
  7. Parents would like to have more date nights. They need an affordable babysitter.
  8. More people are in debt now than ever. They really need a class to help them.
  9. Engine repair is expensive. Car owners need cheaper service.
  10. Parents sure lug a ton of stuff around…especially at the beach.

Write down EVERYTHING. Even if you have no idea how to solve the problem, be sure to write it down! Put your list up on the refrigerator and look at it every day for a week. If you think of additional problems, add them to the list!

Choose the needs that are most likely to succeed

Alright, sweet! You’ve got a pretty solid list of needs. Now what? It’s time to narrow down the list!

When you’re reading through your massive list, start thinking to yourself, “Is this in my area of expertise? Could I handle this problem with my limited skills?”

Could you help people dig some holes? Yup. Leave it on the list.

Moving? Yup. Hauling junk? Yup. Walking with old people? Simple.

Developing an app? Errrr….nope. Cross it off. (This is one that I’ve had to continually cross off my list – I’m just not techie enough).

Annnd, you probably can’t give a presentation on personal finance or fix an engine issue, so we’ll cross those off as well.

Now we’re left with seven needs that we think we could help out with.

The next question is, which of these will pay well if we solve them?

  1. Neighbors need holes dug
  2. People need help moving
  3. People need junk hauled out of their house
  4. Elderly people would like someone to walk with and help them cross the street
  5. Busy people just don’t have time to mow their lawns or edge the yard
  6. Parents would like to have more date nights. They need an affordable babysitter.
  7. Parents sure lug a ton of stuff around…especially at the beach.

Can you make good money digging 15 holes for a neighbor once in a while? Probably not. Let’s ditch this idea.

People move all the time and would love help. There’s definite money to be made here. The same is true for people trying to get rid of their (or their late parents’) junk.

Elderly people… they don’t really get out much, and many of them don’t really have much money. Let’s cross this one off the list.

Overgrown lawns and stressed out parents. I think there’s definitely money to be made here as well.

Sweet! Now we’re down to five real life needs that could pay out some serious money! I’d say we could definitely succeed in life with no skills whatsoever – especially with these awesome ideas!

2) Develop a Solution

You’ve probably already been thinking about this, but now it’s time to actually come up with solutions to those problems on your list. Then, you’ll have to figure out which one will be most profitable!

Let’s walk through one of the five as an example:

  • Parents would like to have more date nights – they need an affordable babysitter

This is definitely a problem for quite a few parents. They want to keep their love alive, but they don’t want to pay a baby sitter $40 a night AND drop $80 on dinner and a movie. Instead of $120 for one day of fun…quite a few parents are just renting a movie and staying home, which is NOT what they really want to be doing.

But thanks to your ideas, maybe they don’t have to! Maybe you can solve this problem!

Write down your potential solutions:

  1. Offer your babysitting services for cheaper than the average $12-13 an hour rate.
  2. Start an adult fun zone (movies, restaurant, bowling, etc.) with an attached nursery that’s open during the evenings.
  3. Start an evening child care in your house and have regular evening hours for parents to drop off their kids on the whim.

Again, take a look at the list and choose the absolute best solution for your current situation.

Option #1 could work, but it’s not very original. Option #2 would take quite a bit of money, which we likely don’t have, so that’s out. And Option #3 sounds like a fantastic idea. You could charge a little less per child, but with multiple kids, you could earn far more than $12 an hour!

Option #3 Potential Earnings:

  • Maximum kids = 6
  • Amount charged per child per hour = $7.00
  • Open from 4PM-10PM
  • Maximum earnings = 6 kids x $7.00/hr x 6 hours = $252.00 per night
  • Open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday = Maximum $756 per week, $39,300 per year
  • Likely average = 1/3 of the maximum, $13,100 per year.

BOOM! Even at just $13k a year, that’s a pretty impressive side gig! Especially for working just 3 additional nights a week! Sounds like a pretty great solution with a crazy decent income! It’s time to move forward with this one.

3) Work, Work, Work

Alright, so in this post, we’ve gone from having no ideas and no income to:

  • Thinking up 10+ ideas for a side hustle
  • Whittling those ideas down to 7 that we could actually do with our limited skills
  • And then down to five that could actually make some decent coin

Then, we ran through the numbers with one of those ideas (you can do this with multiple ideas if you want, just to be sure you’re choosing the best option).

Now, it’s time to work out butts off to make an unbelievable side hustle income.

So what’s next? How do we set up our side hustle?

All side hustles are different, but in general here are the steps you’ll need to take to get started:

  1. Come up with a business name and get licensed with an LLC in your state
  2. Set up a simple website (see Start Your Own Blog for easy instructions to get you started and set up in under 30 minutes)
  3. Market your services
    1. Start by telling your friends and family. Reach out through Facebook and Twitter.
    2. Set your business up on Google Maps and the Yellow Pages
  4. Give your customers far more than they expect
